Sweet Smelling Grave
Once a brother from Karachi sent a letter to Sag-e-Madina Ameer-e-Dawat-e-Islami Ameer-e-AhleSunnat Hazrat’e Allama Moulana Muhammad Ilyas Attar Qadri (damat barakatahum-mul aaliya).
The brother wrote something like the following: “One day, I went to the North Karachi graveyard at exactly noon to pray Fatiha for the deceased.
I got this feeling that from somewhere in the graveyard, there was a beautiful fragrant smell. I had never smelt such a beautiful fragrance ever in my whole life.
I really concentrated on this smell and found out that the smell was coming from a particular grave, upon which, even at noon, there was a shadow covering it.
The surprising fact was that there was no one or nothing that could have caused a shadow to emerge on top of the grave. The next day, I took some of my friends to the graveyard.
All of them saw the shadow and smelt the fragrance. I found out the address of the deceased from the gravedigger and went to the house where the deceased used to live.
When I got there, I asked his wife what his actions were during his lifetime.
After a long thought she said that very often, he used to say: ‘bismillahir-rahman-nir-raheemi wa sallallahu ala Muhammad’.
It became clear that most likely, this action came to be of use for the deceased.”
