Once during the event of a battle, Holy Prophet (S.A.W) was aware that some disbelievers, who were approaching Him, with the intent to attacking Him (S.A.W). The Beloved Prophet (S.A.W) called out, "Who is prepared to sacrifice their life for me?"
Hazrat Ziaad bin Sikan (R.A) heard this and gathered five Ansaaris to fend off the Kuffaar (infidels). They bravely fought and drove the Kuffaar away from Holy Prophet (S.A.W). Whilst fighting, he (R.A) was severely injured, causing him to fall to the ground. The wounds were so severe that the Sahaabi (R.A) was almost close to becoming a Shaheed (Martyr). However, he (R.A) still retained breaths of life within him, when Rasoolullah (S.A.W) ordered that he (R.A) be brought in front of Him.
When the blessed injured body of the Sahabi (R.A) was placed before Holy Prophet (S.A.W), Hazrat Ziaad (R.A) moved his (R.A) body and placed his head at the feet of his master, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (S.A.W) and there after became Shaheed.
