Hazrat Talhah bin Ubaidullah (R.A)
Hazrat Talhah bin Ubaidullah (R.A) embraced Islam upon the efforts of Hazrat Abu Bakr Saddique (R.A).
Naufal bin Adawia, who was famous as Asad-e-Quraysh (Lion of Quraysh), when he heard about his conversion he became furious. He tied Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A) and Hazrat Talhah (R.A) together with a rope. Due to this, those two became known as the "Al-Qareenayn", "the two tied together".
The reason of the conversion of Hazrat Talhah (R.A) is reported that he went for trade to Busra, where a monk lived, who was in search of a man from Haram of Makkah. Hazrat Talhah (R.A) heard and went to him.
The monk asked Hazrat Talhah (R.A) whether a man named Ahmed had appeared amongst them. He (R.A) said, "Ahmed, Ahmed who?" The monk said, "By Ahmed, I mean Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib, for this month is the month of his birth, He (S.A.W) is the last Prophet of Allah (S.W.T), Makkah is his birth place and an oasis of salinity stricken land, is his place of migration (Madina)”.
Be aware! Nobody will surpass you in believing him."Hazrat Talhah (R.A) says, his prophecy got place in his heart, he immediately reached Makkah, he asked and people told him that Muhammad (S.A.W) had proclaimed himself as the Messenger of Allah (S.W.T) and Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A) had embraced Islam at his hands.
He (R.A), without loss of a moment, went to Hazrat Abu Bakr (R.A), who told him about Islam and led him to the Prophet (S.A.W) on whose blessed hands, he entered into the realm of Islam. (Al-Syrat-ul-Halbia, Vol. I P.265)
He (R.A) too was reckoned among the Fortunate Ten and was also included in the Caliphate committee, constituted by Hazrat Umar (R.A). The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) titled him with the honourable titles of Talhah Al-Khair and Talhah Al-Joud. He was among the Muhajreen Awaaleen.
He (R.A) participated in all the sacred battles except Badr and passed away at the age of Sixty Four. His (R.A) shrine is in the city of Basrah. (Muhammad-ur-Rasool Allah, Vol.I, P.79, Muhammad Raza)
