Hazrat Qatada (R.A)
Hazrat Qatada (R.A) was amongst the great Companions of the Beloved Prophet (S.A.W), who sacrificed everything for the cause of Islam.
Once Hazrat Qatada (R.A) was participating in battle, where He (R.A) was shooting arrows. Suddenly he saw the Beloved Prophet (S.A.W) in his rear. Seeing this, Hazrat Qatada (R.A) changed his view and was trying to defend Rasoolullah (S.A.W), so that no arrow may reach the Holy Prophet (S.A.W).
Ultimately an arrow hit Hazrat Qatada's (R.A) eye. The eye socket was badly damaged. It was damaged to such extent that the eyeball was hanging loose.
When the battle was over, Hazrat Qatada's (R.A) Companions advised him to get the muscle with which the eyeball was hanging and cut off the eye, to have some relief from pain.
Hearing this Hazrat Qatada (R.A) said. "No, why should I get it cut?" and holding his eye he went to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). The Prophet of compassion (S.A.W)affirmed: "O Qatada, if you have patience there is paradise for you, but if you so wish, I may pray for you."
Hazrat Qatada (R.A) answered: "O Prophet of Allah (S.W.T) no doubt paradise is a very great blessing and a very great bounty but I do not want to be called a one-eyed person. Therefore kindly restore my eye and pray for the paradise."
Hearing this, the Master of the Universe (S.A.W) placed the eyeball in the socket of the eye and prayed to Allah (S.W.T): "O Allah grant Qatada beauty because he has been sacrificing his face for the face of your Prophet."
When the Beloved Prophet (S.A.W) removed His blessed hand, the injured eye had become more handsome than the other eye and even its eyesight had improved.
More over the other eye did at times become sick or sore but the eye touched by the compassionate hand never ever suffered.(Dalail-un-Nabuwah P:484/2), (Madaraj-un-Nabuwah P: 198/1), , (AI-Khasais-ul-Kubra P:205/1)(Seerat-e-Halbia P:44/2), (Hujjatullah Alal Alimeen P:424), (Majam'a-ul-Zawaid P:116/6), (Zarqani Alal Mowahib P: 186/1)
