Hazrat Shaibah Bin Uthman Bin Abi Talha (R.A)
Hazrat Shaibah Bin Uthman Bin Abi Talhah (R.A) is the paternal cousin of Hazrat Uthman Bin Abi Talhah (R.A). It was Hazrat Shaibah (R.A) who received the blessed keys of Holy Kaaba.
Hazrat Shaibah (R.A) narrates the event of him embracing Islam in his words:
"The people converted to Islam after the conquest of Makkah but I remained on my religion. When the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) left for Hawazin, I also accompanied Him just to find an opportunity to kill Him, for the Muslims had slaughtered my father, uncle and cousins in the battle of Uhud. I had firmly decided in my heart that the entire world may accept Islam but not me. Islam kept on developing but I was not moved. At Hunain, a fierce war started between the Muslims and non-Muslims. I thought this was a chance to take revenge from the Holy Prophet (S.A.W).
When He (S.A.W) dismounted from his mule, I drew my sword out of the sheath and advanced towards the Prophet (S.A.W) to attack on him. I was just about to give the blow of my sword to the Prophet (S.A.W) when a fierce flame with such speed pounced upon me causing my eyes to dazzle. Shaken up by it, I began to tremble; I put my hands on my eyes to escape from the light. It was that moment, the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) smilingly cast a glance on me. He (S.A.W) had guessed about my intention so he called me by name saying, 'Oh Shaibah! Come near to me." When I did as I was commanded, He (S.A.W) put his blessed Hand on my chest and prayed to Allah (S.W.T)"
'O Allah (S.W.T)! Please do save Shaibah from the evil of Shaitaan.' “This glance of kindness changed my heart. It was the moment the Prophet (S.A.W) became dearer to me than my ears and eyes, the passions boiling in my heart against Him, Allah (S.W.T) washed away. Then His honour made me fight against the pagans. I accordingly plunged into the fighting, attacked on the pagans like the lion with such enthusiasm that if my father had come in front of me I would have killed him as well. I kept on fighting till the war ended.”
"After the war finished, I appeared before the Prophet (S.A.W) who was sitting in His tent, seeing me He (S.A.W) said: ‘O Shaibah! What Allah intended about you was better than what you had intended about me.’ The Prophet (S.A.W) expressed what was concealed in my heart, He (S.A.W) was well aware of my passions which nobody except me knew so I exclaimed: I bear witness there is no God but Allah (S.W.T) and I bear witness you (S.A.W) are the Prophet of Allah (S.W.T).” (Al-Syrat-un-Nabwia, Vol.11, p.294-295, Ahmed Bin Zainy Dahlaan)
