Hazrat Usman bin Talha (R.A)
Hazrat Usman bin Talha (R.A), the key bearer of the gates of the Holy Kaaba narrates: “Once I met the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) before the Hijrat (Migration) and He (S.A.W) preached to me the message of Islam. I refused and remarked that he had opposed the religion of his nation and concocted a new religion.
Then one day the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) arrived to enter the gate of the Kaaba which we used to open on Mondays and Thursdays. When He (S.A.W) tried to enter along with other Companions, I snubbed him and did not let him in.
Holy Prophet (S.A.W) kept calm and did not say anything to me except that very soon the key of the Kaaba would be in His (S.A.W) hand and he would hand it over to anyone he would wish. I replied that by that time all the Quraish would have died.
On the day when Makkah fell to the Islamic forces. Holy Prophet (S.A.W) asked me to hand over the key to Him. I had to obey because now Holy Prophet (S.A.W) was the ruler of Makkah. I presented the key to him. He (S.A.W) reminded me the time when I had not let Him (S.A.W) into the Holy Kaaba and observed that one day that key would be in His (S.A.W) hands and He (S.A.W) would grant it to anyone He (S.A.W) would like.
Holy Prophet (S.A.W) then returned the key to me and said that He (S.A.W) had given the key to me and my progeny forever. Hearing this I confessed that it was true and I recited the Kalima and declared that I believed that He (S.A.W) was the true Prophet of Allah (S.W.T).” (Khasais -e- Kubra P:267 Vol:1)
According to a narration of Hazrat Ali (R.A), Hazrat Abbas (R.A) said to Holy Prophet (S.A.W), “O Prophet! (S.A.W) besides Saqaya (providing drinking water for the Hajj pilgrims), bless us with honour of the Hajabah (post of the turnkey of the Kaaba).” However, the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) did not accede to his request rather said, "This day is not the day of revenge rather it is the day of kindness and munificence." At this time, the key was in the hands of Hazrat Ali (R.A), the Prophet (S.A.W) took it from him and handed over it to Uthman saying: "O Uthman! This key, I am not giving only to you but also to your generations till the Day of Judgment. He, who snatches this key from you, shall be the oppressor."
