Playing a computer game from an Islamic point of view is allowed based on ones intension. A computer game could be based around Islamic education in which case it would be highly recommended, however a computer game could be of sexual nature, whereby it would be Haram. So for the context of the computer games being played, the intension (Niyah) is important, a person needs to avoid those games that take you away from Islam. Some youngsters may ask that “how can a game take you away from Islam?” As an example, let’s assume that you are old enough and Salaah (Namaz) is Fard on you; however you are busy playing a game and the game is not about to end. In the joy and excitement of the game you end up missing your Salaah. This (playing the computer game in this scenario) in affect lead you away from Islam and hence would not be allowed.
