Ask The Imam Question and Answer

1206 My question is can I do Dhikr without doing Wudu when on the go, like reading Kalima, Durood Shareef, Four Qul, Aytul Kursi and Surah Yaseen?

Please advise, as I work 17 hrs and am exhausted after working as a nurse. Can I do Dhikr without Wudu?
Mashallah it is refreshing to hear that there are such people who although are involved in their daily work, still stay in the remembrance of Allah (S.W.T) and His beloved Prophet (S.A.W). May Allah (S.W.T) bless you further.

It is good practice to be in Wudu whilst doing Dhikr, but is not a requirement. It is perfectly acceptable to do Dhikr without having Wudu, providing you are in the state of purity i.e. Not on your menstrual days. (Please look at previously answered question for further clarification on this).

This ruling is for verbal recitation and not for recitation whilst holding the Holy Quran. If you want to recite whilst holding the Quran, say whilst on your break then the condition of Wudu has to be fulfilled.
