218 I understand the need of purdah for women but why do women have to cover their hair?

I have heard that Hazret Fatima (R.A) (but may Allah forgive me if I have not recalled this correctly) covered their hair and on one incident when they were going to uncover it Allah (S.W.T) sent an Angel to stop them from doing this.

Can you please let me know and also write the correct recount of the above incident.
Just as the purdah is essential to protect the woman so is the covering of the hair. Hair is one of those attributes that attract the opposite sex and are part of the woman’s orah. Hence it’s essential that she covers them and she is ordered in the Quran Shareef to do so.
