Ask The Imam Question and Answer

401 I have been asked a question by someone and didn’t know what the answer was so would be grateful if you can tell me. The question is: If you know of a person within your area who is a non Muslim, and he passes away.

He has no family and no real friends other than a few Muslim friends (including
us). As we are based outside UK, the government doesn’t, participate in the burial and it is down to family to organize the burial.

If the responsibility is set on your shoulders as you are closest to next of kin as can be, then how should you bury the body? Bearing in mind that you are a Muslim and the deceased is a non believer.
It is ok to bury someone that is a non believer as we all have a duty for Allah (S.W.T)’s creations.

With regards to how to bury the body, if you know how to bury according to his belief then do it that way, if however, you don’t know then you can bury him like we Muslims do.
