516 | When you read the Quran, is it permissible to read it in English, to understand the meaning of the words? Should one generally read it in Arabic? The Holy Quran was reveled in Arabic and it is also the mother tongue of our Holy Prophet (S.A.W)’s therefore it is It is highly recommended to read the Quran in Arabic, however it is also important to understand what you are reading. So it is permissible to read the meaning of the Holy Quran in any language. Salah (Namaz) should only be read in Arabic because our Holy Prophet (S.A.W) has instructed us how to perform the Salah (Namaz). However in extreme circumstances, such as unable to read Arabic, it is permissible to read in English. It is essential to learn Arabic so one can perform the prayers properly. | |||
