Ask The Imam Question and Answer

900 I'm going to do my daughter's Aqeeqah a few months after she was born. I already cut her hair and gave it in charity when she was 7 days old. What I'm asking is do I have to cut her hair again when I go slaughter the goat? Also, what is the proper supplication to recite when slaughtering the animal for an Aqeeqah. If you can, please use transliteration and Arabic with the English translation. Thank you so very much and may Allah bless you
“Bismillah, Allah Hu Akbar” (Translation : In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest) is recited while slaughtering an animal. This is the same supplication for slaughtering an animal for Aqeeqah.

It is worth remembering that when slaughtering the animal the Neith (Intension) for performing the Aqeeqah for your daughter should be done. In doing so, you hope to obtain the reward of fulfilling the Holy Prophet (S.A.W)’s Sunnah.

Perform the Dua on the meat and distribute accordingly.

As for cutting the hair of your daughter, you are not required to do this again as you have already performed this Sunnah.
