903 | I would like to ask if we are allowed to hold the Quran Shareef above the girl's head when ruksati is completed at a wedding? | ||
The holding of the Quran above the heads of the newly-wed couple is a practice for which there is no evidence from the Quran or Sunnah. At the same time, there is no evidence from the Quran or Sunnah to suggest that such an act is forbidden. After all, the Quran is a source of great Baraka and blessings. Ensuring that the couples’ new life begins with the Quran can only be a good thing. Therefore, such a practice would be categorized under ‘Mubah’, meaning permissible.
