Never Too Late

Throughout this month we have tried to highlight some of the ills of society, identifying the mistakes done religiously as a community. We’ve tried to find the solutions to such problems, in light of the Holy Quran and the teachings of our beloved Prophet (S.A.W).

We have tried to conclude after each topic that at the end of the day, Allah (S.W.T) is the one whom we are all accountable to and we will all be judged on our own deeds. We tried to explain that our creator (S.W.T) is All Forgiving, All Merciful. The only thing that stands in our way for our sins to be forgiven is ourselves. No matter how much sin we have unfortunately done, Allah (S.W.T) will forgive providing we ask forgiveness from our mistakes and try whole heartly not to follow such path again.

When an individual is full of remorse and regret he/she will most definitely ascribe to the notion that they will never go back to repeating the sins carried out. However this is not an easy task to follow over time; as it is Shaitaans mission to lead us astray and sin again.

To avoid falling back in the traps of Shaitaan, we need to perform the daily Salah with regularity, recite Darood Shareef in abundance, move away from your circle of friends if they are not of good character and keep in the company of practicing Muslims. Furthermore recite “La haw la Wa la quwata ila bila hil ali yil azeem” when the thought of sin comes to mind.

Reciting of Thauooz and Thasmiyah (A'oozu Bil-Laahi Minash Shaietaa Nir-Rajeem. Bismil-Laahir-Rahmaa nir-Raheem), will also act as a shield from the Shaitaan. There are other religious acts that we can perform to rid the devil from our lives, like reading Surah al-Baqarah in the homes or reciting the Azaan. It is mentioned in AHadith that the devil runs when he hears the Azaan being recited.

Imam Muslim (R.A) records the following Hadith, in which the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) said: ‘When a person enters his house, mentions the name of Allah (S.W.T) and does the same when he eats his food, then the devil says to his companions: ‘Let us go, there is no room for you to pass the night in this house and there is no evening meal.’ But when a person enters without mentioning the name of Allah (S.W.T), the devil says to his companions: ‘You have found a place to spend the night’, and when he does not mention the name of Allah (S.W.T) at the time of eating too, the devil says: ‘You have found a place to spend the night and you have found an evening meal.’ (Sahih Muslim: Book of Drinks)

It is important to remember that on the Day of judgement we will all be accountable for our actions. We need to try to work towards spending our time wisely and try to please our Creator by following the path prescribed by the Holy Prophet (S.A.W). One thing to bare in mind is that every action we take or think, Allah (S.W.T) is ever present and All Knowing. May Allah (S.W.T) grant us all the ability to repent sincerely and stay away from sin.
