Cure for Cough

A cough is a reflex action to clear your airways of mucus and irritants such as dust particles or smoke. Cough is commonly caused by chest infections, cold and flu. A lot of money is spent trying to stop cough even though many medication have side effects. However there are few remedies which are natural cures for the cough and have no side effects. The following natural remedies can be used to eliminate cough without the expense.

Honey is a well known cough suppressant. You can eat a teaspoon of honey alone or you can drink honey mixed in warm water. This will reduce the congestion and cough for several hours. Honey has antibacterial properties which reduces the infection of the respiratory tract. For added benefits from the analgesic (relief from pain) properties of honey, swallow a teaspoon of plain honey on an empty stomach. This will help clear the mucus and soothe your throat.

Holy Prophet (S.A.W) once said, "By Him in whose hand is my soul, eat honey. For there is no house in which honey is kept for which the Angels will not ask for
mercy. If a person eats honey, a thousand remedies enter his stomach and a
million diseases will come out. If a man dies and honey is found within him, fire will not touch his body [i.e., he will be immune from the burning of Hell]." The Prophet (S.A.W) himself used to drink a glass of honey and water each morning on an empty stomach.

Black seed oil also has curing properties. Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A) narrated: I heard Allah's Messenger (S.A.W) saying, "There is healing in black cumin for all diseases except death." For the cough apply Black seed oil to the chest and back. Mix a teaspoon of Black seed oil in Boiling water and inhale the vapour twice a day. Take half a teaspoon of Black seed Oil daily in the morning.

Ginger is a natural decongestant and has been used to fight off throat and
respiratory tract infections for a long time. The antiviral, antibacterial and
expectorant properties present in ginger ease congestion in the throat and chest to help you breathe easier. Ginger is an effective ingredient that dissolves the phlegm. Sour ginger dries the phlegm that prevails in the body.

Raisins and almonds can help in relieving cough too. Take 40 small raisins and three almonds, recite Darood Shareef 11 times and perform Dam (blow) on them and then eat them daily. Do not take water after it for up to 2 hours. This will greatly assist in relieving the cough. Existing phlegm will be excreted and its
further production will cease. The amount of small raisins can be increased if
necessary, but give smaller amount to the children. This method can be used
until cough is cured.
