Ramadan 2015

Surah Fathiha (The Opening Chapter):

Al-Hamdu Lil-Laahi Rab-bil 'Aalameen,
Ar-Rahmaa nir Raheem, Maa liki Yaumid deen,
iiy-yaaka Na'budu Wa iiy-yaaka Nasta'een,
ihdinas Siraatal Mustakeema Siraatal Lazeena An'amta 'Alaiehim, Ghaieril Maghdoobi 'Alaiehim Wa Lad daal-Leen. (Ameen)

“All praise is due to Allah, the Nourisher of the Universes,
the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful, the Owner of the Day of Judgement.
O Allah, You alone we worship and of You alone we seek help.
Guide us into the straight path, thae path of those whom You have favoured,
not of those who earn (Your) wrath, nor of those who go astray.” (Ameen)

Qiraat:

In Islam, Qiraat means recitation. It is important to recite quietly, so that only the person reading can hear what they are reading. However during Jammat only the Imam is allowed to recite the Quran and the Mukhtadi’s must remain silent.

  • During Qiraat, it is Wajib to recite Surah Fathiha and three other verses of the Quran at every Rakat of Sunnahs, Nafils and Witr prayer.
  • During the Fard Salah it is Wajib to recite Surah Fathiha and minimum of three other verses of the Holy Quran, in the first two Rakats. It is also good practice to recite Surah Fathiha in every Rakat. If a Wajib is forgotten, it is necessary to make Sajjdah-e-Sahv (Sajjdah of correction).
  • It is Wajib to recite the Surahs or Ayahs in continuous flow. For example: If you recite part of Surah Yaseen in the first Rakat. Then in the second Rakat you are required to either continue from where you had finished Surah Yaseen in the first Rakat or any other part of Quran after that point.
  • It is Makrooh (disliked) to recite a longer portion of the Quran in the latter Rakats than the previous Rakats.
