Ramadan 2006 (Sunnah : The Perfect Example)

Manners of Eating (Part 2)

Before Eating:

When we eat food we must eat in the name of Allah (S.W.T) and must be thankful to Allah (S.W.T).

Before eating food, you should recite Bismillahi Wa Barakatillah.

If you forget to recite Bismillah before eating, then whenever you realise, recite Bismillahi Awwalahoo Waakhirahoo.

Inshallah by following this Sunnah our eating will be considered as Ibadat (worship).

Benefits:
By reciting Bismillah, there will be Barkat in our food and also we keep shaitaan away from eating our food.

Hazrat Jaabir (R.A) reported that the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) once said: “When a man comes to his house and recites Bismillah (while entering the house) and then at the time of eating, Shaitaan says to its offspring,‘You will neither be allowed to stay nor to eat in this house’.

If the man does not recite Bismillah while entering the house, Shaitaan says to its offspring, ‘Now you have got a place to stay in this house.’

And if the man misses Bismillah at the time of eating, Shaitaan says, ‘You have got both, a place to stay and every thing to eat.’”

Hazrat Umayyah Bin Makhshi (R.A) reports:“A person was eating but he did not take the Name of Allah till there remained nothing of his food except a morsel. When he raised it up to his mouth, he said, “Bismillahi Awwalahoo Waakhirahoo”. Prophet (S.A.W) smiled and said, ‘The devil was eating with you and when you recited Bismillah, it vomited what was in its belly’”.

It means that “Bismillah” brought back the abundance in food
